Despite repeated warnings by the court, X did not appoint a legal representative in Brazil. Whereas under Brazil's internet laws, it is necessary to have a legal representative in the country. This is why Supreme Court Justice de Moraes ordered X to be shut down.

What action has been taken against X in Brazil?

Justice de Moraes on Friday ordered Brazil's telecoms regulator Anatel to block access to X across the country. However, the shutdown could take a few hours or days as telecom companies have been notified to block X.

Apart from this, the court has ordered the confiscation of the financial assets of Musk's satellite internet company Starlink to recover the fine of 18.5 million reais i.e. 3.28 million dollars imposed on X for not complying with the orders.
