Onion Price: Big update on onion rate, government told when the price will come down; Relief from inflation

 

Subsidies Onion Sale: Onion prices have declined in the last one month after the subsidized sale of onions by the government. The government is selling onions from the buffer stock at a subsidised rate of Rs 35 per kg in Delhi-NCR and other cities to provide relief to consumers from the high price.

Onion Price Update: The retail inflation figures that came a day ago reached the top of 14 months. The inflation rate of October has increased to 6.21 percent. The reason for the rise in inflation is being said to be the increase in food inflation. Actually, the increase in the price of onion and tomato has affected the retail inflation rate figures. Continuous efforts are being made by the government to soften the price of onion. Onions are also being sent to the open market from buffer stock. Now a big update has come from the government regarding onion prices. It was indicated by the government that the common man is going to get relief from inflation.

Average retail price across the country is Rs 54 per kg.

A senior official of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs said that the price of onion is expected to fall further in the coming days as the arrival of new Kharif crop has started in the market. "At present, the average retail price of onion across the country is Rs 54 per kg. Onion prices have declined in the last one month after the government started subsidised sale of onion in major consuming centres. The government is selling onion from the buffer stock in the market at a subsidised rate of Rs 35 per kg in Delhi-NCR and other cities to provide relief from high prices to consumers.

The government has a buffer stock of 4.5 lakh tonnes of onions, of which 1.5 lakh tonnes have been disposed of so far. According to the ministry official, buffer stock onions are being transported to major consumption centers through railways for the first time. This is helping in increasing the supply. "We will continue to carry bulk rail transportation of buffer onions till the stocks are exhausted and prices stabilise," the official said. A maximum of 3,170 tonnes of onion was transported to the price-sensitive Delhi market.

Delhi today. The official said that in the last two days, there was a sudden pressure on onion prices as mandis were closed and labourers were on leave due to the festive season. However, now the situation has started improving. The official also said that the production is expected to be much higher.
