After its bumper success last year, National Cinema Day is back in 2023. The one-day event, organized by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) along with leading cinema chains, aims to make the movie watching experience more accessible with tickets. Its price is Rs 99 in all theaters of the country. On Thursday, MAI shared details about this year's edition of National Cinema Day.

When is National Cinema Day 2023?

On Thursday, the Multiplex Association of India shared a statement announcing this year's edition of National Cinema Day. "Mark Friday, October 13 in your calendars as the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and theaters across India come together once again to bring you National Cinema Day," the statement said. On that day, tickets will be priced at Rs 99 across most major cinema chains and single screens across India. According to the MAI release, more than 4000 cinema halls across India will participate in this initiative this year.

The MAI statement said: “This year National Cinema Day will be celebrated across over 4000 participating screens including PVR Inox, Cinepolis, Mirage, CityPride, Asian, Mukta Edge, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Delight and many renowned cinemas. Like last year, many single screen owners are also expected to participate. MAI has said that there may be some additional offers on tickets and F&B, which will be available through participating cinemas, their websites and their social media channels. National Cinema Day 2022 was a resounding success, with over 65 lakh tickets sold in a single day on September 23. Many theaters reported full houses for the first time in years and saw an increase in the collections of films being screened at that time.

Which films are likely to benefit?

There are no major releases in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or other languages ​​in the weekend of October 13. But some of the releases from the first weeks are still likely to be strong. The biggest among them is Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War, releasing on September 28 along with Fukrey 3. Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj, which releases on October 6, will also benefit.
