This incident happened on Wednesday night, when Asif Qureshi, a resident of Kamala Ganj Bavdi of Ajmer, was coming to Pushkar with meat.

The young man had come to sell meat cutter

According to sources, Asif Qureshi had tried to bring and sell meat but was stopped by activists of Hindu organizations near the temple of Bairwa community. When his trunk was searched, a plastic bag containing meat was found in it. The youth was caught and beaten up and the police were informed. The police reached the spot arrested the youth and sent the meat to the veterinary hospital for examination, where it was found to be of a wild animal.

Ban on selling meat in Pushkar, the king of pilgrimages

Asif Qureshi told the police that he was coming to Pushkar for the first time with meat and he was not aware of the ban on selling meat here. He was bringing the meat to give to the workers of the garment factory in Pushkar. Local Hindu organizations saw the bringing, carrying and selling of meat as a destruction of the dignity of the religious pilgrimage site and expressed strong displeasure over this. Gau Raksha Dal member Narendra Singh said, strict action should be taken against the meat seller and buyers so that the religious dignity of Pushkar is maintained. This incident has increased the concern about meat, alcohol and other anti-social activities in Pushkar and surrounding areas.
