Amarnath Cave: Attacking terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims reached Kashmir on Friday

 

Jammu and Kashmir: Convoys of pilgrims left separately from the Jammu base camp early Friday for the base camps at Baltal and Pahalgam, from where they will undertake the arduous journey to the Amarnath cave shrine of Lord Shiva located at an altitude of 3,880 metres in the South Kashmir Himalayas on Saturday morning.

Jai Baba Barfani, a batch of pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in the early morning. 4,603 pilgrims were welcomed by police officials and locals at Navyug tunnel in Qazigund area of ​​Kulgam district in South Kashmir. 

The first batch of 4603 pilgrims reached Kashmir

This 52-day pilgrimage will start on Saturday from the traditional 48 km long Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14 km long Baltal route in Ganderbal. The pilgrimage will conclude on August 19. Amid chants of 'Bam Bam Bhole' and 'Har Har Mahadev', Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday flagged off the first batch of 4,603 pilgrims for the Amarnath Yatra from the Yatri Niwas base camp in Bhagwati Nagar. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha wished the pilgrims a safe journey. He said that the blessings of Baba Amarnath ji should bring peace, happiness and prosperity in everyone's life.

Devotees arived in a convoy of 231 vehicles

The pilgrims arrived in Srinagar from Jammu amid tight security in a convoy of 231 vehicles. Kulgam Deputy Commissioner (DC) Athar Aamir Khan told reporters that the pilgrims travelling from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes were welcomed by the administration, civil society members, trade community, fruit growers and market associations on their arrival. Khan said that we welcome all the pilgrims. Proper arrangements have been made for everyone. 

Devotees will reach a height of 3880 meters

Officials said that convoys of pilgrims left separately for the base camps at Baltal and Pahalgam, from where they will undertake the arduous journey to the Amarnath cave temple of Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in the South Kashmir Himalayas on Saturday morning. The official said that traffic restrictions will be imposed on various routes from June 28 to August 19 and advisories will be issued regularly to minimize the inconvenience of the people. 

125 langars were set up along the route

According to reports, more than 3.5 lakh people have registered for this year's Amarnath Yatra. 125 community langars have been set up on both routes to the cave temple and more than 6,000 volunteers are helping the devotees.
