Bakara River Bridge Collapse: A case of bridge collapse has again come to light in the Araria district of Bihar. It is being said that after heavy rains in Nepal, the Bakara river passing through the Sikti block overflowed and the bridge built on the Bakara river was washed away. After the bridge collapsed, Sikti MLA Vijay Kumar said that the bridge collapsed due to the negligence of the construction company. He has demanded an investigation into it from the administration. After the incident of the Araria bridge collapse, a statement was issued by the office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

'The bridge of the double engine government in Bihar got washed away in the river'

The official X handle of Nitin Gadkari's office tweeted that the accident-hit bridge in Araria, Bihar was not constructed under the Central Road Transport Ministry. Its work was going on under the Rural Development Ministry of the Bihar government. This statement came from Gadkari's office when the Congress started taking a dig at it. Youth Congress National President Srinivas BV had said on the incident that the bridge of the double engine government in Bihar was washed away in the river.

A budget of Rs 12 crore was kept for the construction.

It is being told that the bridge was washed away due to the sudden strong current in the river due to rain in Nepal. After the completion of the bridge, it would have connected Sikti and Kursakanta blocks. A budget of about Rs 12 crore was kept by the government for the construction of the bridge. At present, there is no traffic on the bridge due to the lack of approach roads on both sides. Otherwise, a major accident could have happened. Villagers claim that cracks have been seen in the slab of the bridge for the last two days.

After the incident of the bridge collapse, the cabinet minister of the state government Ashok Chaudhary said that the then assistant engineer and junior engineer had been suspended in this case. Also, an order has been given to register an FIR against the contractor of the bridge. A four-member investigation team will submit the report within seven days. Let us tell you that a bridge was also constructed on the Bakra River five years ago. But when the work of the bridge was completed, the course of the Bakra river changed, after which a new bridge was being constructed.
