Mukti Ranjan Roy, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of Mahalakshmi in Vyalikaval, Bengaluru, committed suicide in Odisha. Roy, who was in a love affair with Mahalakshmi, allegedly killed her after a breakup. Police are continuing their investigation.

The case of the brutal murder of Mahalakshmi, a resident of Vyalikaval in Bengaluru, had shaken the entire city. The latest update in the case is that Mukti Ranjan Roy, the prime suspect in this gruesome murder, has committed suicide in Odisha. Roy was identified by the Bengaluru police as the prime suspect in the murder of Mahalakshmi, a Nepali woman living in Vyalikaval in Bengaluru. After several days of investigation, when the officers traced her location, they found that she had taken her own life.

Roy, who was absconding since the murder, was found dead near a graveyard in Odisha's Bhadrak district. After the murder, he returned to his native village where he informed his family that he was planning to leave home at night. Police found that he left on a scooter but tragically hanged himself from a tree. His laptop was found nearby and locals informed the authorities. Police then reached the spot and sent his body to the Bhadrak Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered at the Dhusuri police station and investigators have seized his diary and laptop for further investigation.

The accused lived in Bengaluru's Hebbagodi area and worked at a fashion store in Malleswaram where he met Mahalakshmi. Their relationship reportedly turned sour when Mahalakshmi started seeing another man, leading to frequent arguments. Investigators believe this tension led to his murder.

Mahalakshmi had moved to Bengaluru nine months ago after leaving her husband following a family feud. She started working in the sales field and soon got close to Roy, a relationship that later turned into a love affair. After their breakup, things took a tragic turn, and Mahalakshmi was brutally murdered. Her mutilated body, chopped into over 50 pieces, was found in a fridge in her rented house in Vyalikaval last week.

Bengaluru police launched a massive manhunt to nab Mukti Ranjan Roy, identifying him as the prime suspect. After committing the crime, Roy was believed to have fled to West Bengal, where he contacted his brother before going into hiding. The police were after him, but the news of his suicide brought the case to an unexpected end.

The murder of Mahalakshmi, whose body was found by the police in a decomposed state, shook the entire city. According to investigations, it had been at least two weeks since the crime was committed before her remains were found. City police commissioner B Dayanand had earlier confirmed the identity of the suspect and efforts to trace him, saying, "Investigations are being conducted from all angles. The prime suspect has been identified and our teams are working to arrest him."

The case attracted considerable attention due to the brutal nature of the crime, and Mukti Ranjan Roy's suicide now leaves many unanswered questions about his motives and the events that followed.
