Chandrababu Naidu PM Modi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Delhi. During this, he sought support for a seven-point development agenda aimed at dealing with the challenges of the state after the division. During the meeting in the Prime Minister's Office, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, a key ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), highlighted the challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh after its division in 2014.

He stressed the need to increase central assistance to accelerate the development of the state and advocated increasing assistance in exchange for special category status. An official statement said that the meeting focused on key issues ranging from financial assistance to infrastructure development. The PMO shared pictures of this meeting in a post on social media.

Naidu also sought help to expedite the Polavaram project, a national irrigation initiative crucial for Andhra's agriculture sector. The project is high on Naidu's list of priorities.

On the financial condition of the state, the Chief Minister said, 'Andhra Pradesh is facing the ill effects of the unscientific, unfair, and unjust division of 2014.'

He said the previous government's "malfeasance, corruption, and misgovernance" had further worsened the state's economic condition.

Naidu sought short-term financial assistance from the Centre, attributing the current shortage of resources to "reckless borrowing" and "massive misuse of funds" by the previous government.

Other key points on Naidu's agenda included comprehensive support for the completion of the Amaravati government complex and key infrastructure, incentives to boost industrial development, and additional allocation under the state's special assistance scheme for critical sectors.

The statement said that the Chief Minister also advocated a special package for the backward areas of Andhra on the lines of the Bundelkhand package. Help for the development of Duggirajupatnam port was also another issue of discussion.

Meanwhile, N Chandrababu Naidu and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed various issues related to the development of the country and the state. Shah said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is committed to building a 'developed India' and 'developed Andhra Pradesh'.

Amit Shah said, 'Meeting with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N Chandrababu Naidu Garu and TDP MPs. We had a detailed discussion on various topics related to accelerating the progress of the country and the state. The NDA government is committed to building a developed India and a developed Andhra Pradesh.'

It is noteworthy that the Naidu-led TDP is an important ally of the NDA, whose 16 Lok Sabha MPs are supporting the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After these meetings, he expressed confidence in Andhra Pradesh's ability to re-emerge as a 'powerhouse among states' under Modi's leadership.

"Today I had a productive meeting with PM Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss important issues related to the welfare and development of Andhra Pradesh. I am confident that under his leadership our state will once again emerge as a powerhouse among other states," he said in a post on 'X'.

He described the meeting as very positive and the discussions on key issues related to the development of the state as 'constructive'. 

Praise of the 'spirit of cooperative federalism'

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during his two-day visit to Delhi.

After talks with Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Naidu praised the "spirit of cooperative federalism". After meeting Goyal, the Chief Minister said, "This wonderful spirit of cooperative federalism will help our state Andhra Pradesh to utilize its full potential. It was great to meet you in Delhi."

Naidu met several Union ministers including Manohar Lal Khattar and Hardeep Singh Puri during his Delhi visit. TDP MPs and Union ministers Ram Mohan Naidu and Chandrasekhar Pemmasani were also present at the meeting. Sources said that meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda is also on Naidu's agenda.
