Empowering the OBC Community: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's Impact in Haryana

Nayab Singh Saini, the Chief Minister of Haryana, has been actively working to uplift various societal groups through a range of initiatives. His particular focus has been on the Other Backward Classes (OBC), a community to which he personally belongs.

Under CM Saini’s leadership, the Haryana government has implemented several key measures aimed at benefiting the OBC community. One significant change is the increase in the annual income limit for the creamy layer of the OBC category in government jobs, raised from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, excluding salary and agricultural income. Furthermore, reservations for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B government positions have been elevated from 15 percent to 27 percent, in line with central government guidelines. Addressing the backlog of jobs for backward classes has also been prioritized.

At the Sarva Samaj Samrasta Sammelan of OBC Morcha, where CM Saini was a prominent guest, he highlighted the government’s commitment to protecting OBC interests. The Haryana Skill Employment Corporation now offers a 27 percent reservation for the OBC category, aiming to enhance job opportunities for young people.

In addition to these efforts, the state government has rolled out various schemes to support the OBC community, including scholarships for education and skill development programs. The central government has identified areas with significant OBC populations as aspirational districts, which benefit from targeted development schemes.

A notable initiative is the Bhagwan Vishwakarma Yojana, which has been allocated a budget of Rs 13,000 crore for training in 18 trades. This program provides financial support and kits to trainees, further supporting skill development within the OBC community. CM Saini has emphasized that the combined efforts of both central and state governments have provided substantial benefits to the OBC community, surpassing previous opposition efforts. This has increased support from OBC voters towards the BJP, potentially influencing upcoming assembly elections.

Overall, CM Saini’s tenure has been marked by a strong focus on ensuring equal opportunities and benefits for all societal sections, with particular attention to the OBC community. The government's initiatives have garnered praise and are expected to positively affect future elections.
