Kandahar Hijack: Who was that person in IC 814 plane, whose name was hidden from the public

Kandahar Hijack Real Story: A man remained seated in the Kandahar hijack plane for seven days. He did whatever the terrorists told him to do like the others but no one knew that he was not an ordinary passenger. Indian intelligence officials had also removed his name from the list of passengers so that no one would know. Who was he?

These days there is a lot of discussion about the IC 814 Kandahar plane hijacking incident. Anubhav Sinha has made a web series, which has become a matter of controversy. The hijackers had given the Hindu names of two terrorists in the plane Bhola and Shankar to hide their identity. When this was shown in the web series, some people got angry. BJP also objected while the same is written in the book. Now the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the content head of Netflix. Well, there is another important scene in this film which must have caught people's attention. Yes, at one place in the film, the officials of the Crisis Management Team in Delhi get information that a special person is present on the plane. Who was he? Later, in the list of passengers that come to the public through the media, one name is already removed. After all, who was that person?

RAW agents were on the plane

In the web series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack', the incident of the plane taking off from Kathmandu, getting hijacked, landing in Amritsar, flying again in 45 minutes, going to Lahore, landing in Dubai, and finally landing in Kandahar has been shown in a very thrilling manner. There were 176 passengers and 15 crew members on the plane. However, the terrorists did not know that one of these hostages was Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent Shashi Bhushan Singh Tomar. The officials sitting in Delhi deliberately hid this information from the public otherwise this information could have reached the terrorists and they could have harmed the agent.

AS Dulat, who was the head of RAW at that time, confirmed this in his book 'Kashmir: The Vajpayee Years'. Commandos were ready to enter the plane in Amritsar, but some experts believe that the Punjab National Guard was stopped from attacking the plane because Tomar was inside. Tomar was not only an important operative for the intelligence agency but he also had good relations with Vajpayee.

According to the report, Vajpayee's Chief Secretary NK Singh had stopped the commandos from entering the hijacked plane that landed in Amritsar. Singh's younger sister was married to Tomar and hence many people believe this to be the reason. Kailash Chauhan's character has been shown in the role of Tomar in the web series. This film is based on Captain Devi Sharan's 2000 book 'Flight Into Fear'.
