It is being told that on October 24, a young man called a girl named Yulia, who came to India from Russia, on contract to dance in a bar. But when Yulia refused to do obscene dance in the bar, the young man kept her passport with him and started harassing her.
The youth was identified as Deepu, who hails from Delhi. He had sent Yulia to work in a bar located in the city center of Gwalior and kept her passport with him as security. After reaching Gwalior, Yulia was pressured to perform an obscene dance, but when she refused and expressed her desire to go back to Russia, Deepu and the bar owner refused to return her passport.
For about 18 days, Yulia wandered in search of her passport in Gwalior and Delhi. When she felt that she would not get her passport, she met Gwalior SP Dharmveer Singh Yadav and explained her problem. On receiving the complaint, SP Yadav took immediate action detained the bar operator, and called for the passport from Deepu who was in Delhi. After some time, the passport was returned and Yulia was allowed to go back.
CSP Hina Khan said that Yulia had not lodged any formal complaint in this matter, but the police, understanding the seriousness of the situation, got the passport back and the embassy was also informed about this matter.
