Nawada: Who is the owner of the land of the Dalit colony? Shamsul Mian's name came forward.
The reason behind the burning of the settlement in Krishna Nagar village of Nawada district of Bihar is said to be a land dispute. The people who set the Dalit settlement on fire are the influential people of the neighboring village. The victims allege that the accused have their eyes on the settlement's land. This land belongs neither to the people living here nor to the influential people who destroyed the settlement. Earlier it was said that the settlement was built on government land, but now there is a new twist in it.
The land of the Dalit colony located on the river bank is said to be owned by a Muslim man Shamsul Mian. This has been revealed by Nawada SDM Akhilesh Prasad. He has said that in the administrative investigation, the land papers are registered in the name of Shamsul Mian. The SDM said that the colony is settled on Shamsul Mian's Raiyat land. The colony is settled illegally. He says that the matter is being investigated.
The dalit settlement was set on fire
On Wednesday night, a mob of miscreants set fire to the Dalit settlement in Krishna Nagar village of Nawada. About 30 houses of the settlement were burnt to ashes. The number of the mob that attacked the settlement was close to 100. The victims said that the mob that attacked the settlement was armed. They spread terror by firing 50 rounds. There was chaos in the settlement. The victims say that the attacking mob had brought petrol and diesel with them. They poured petrol and diesel on the houses and set them on fire.
About 80 houses were burnt to ashes.
The mob of miscreants set the house on fire and left. In this incident, the houses of Gorelal, Jhapsi Manjhi, Sanjay Manjhi, Nitya Manjhi, Ramchandra Manjhi, Bhola Manjhi, Tara Manjhi, Vijay Ravidas, Shobha Devi, Sarita Devi, Surup Manjhi, Lalita Devi, Awadhesh Manjhi, Manoj Manjhi, Doma Manjhi, Doma Ravidas, Gendo Manjhi, Suresh Manjhi, Naval Manjhi and Nilesh Manjhi and many others have been burnt to ashes. Only burnt houses are visible in the colony. The victims say that all the belongings kept in their houses were burnt to ashes in the fire.
Main gang leader arrested
Police have arrested 10 accused including Nandu Paswan, the main accused in the incident. The victims allege that Nandu had his eyes on this land from before. He was also fired in the year 2023. A complaint was made to the police but no solution was found. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given strict orders to the higher officials regarding the incident. ADG Law and Order has been sent to the spot. The culprits have been arrested at all costs and given strict punishment.
