After an inter-caste marriage in Jaisalmer, the bride's family kidnapped the groom's father. The police took action and rescued 60-year-old Chanuram Kumhar safely.  

Jaisalmer. A shocking case has come to light from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, where the bride's family kidnapped the groom's father after an inter-caste marriage. On October 7, a young man and woman had a court marriage of their own free will, but the girl's family was against this marriage, as both belonged to different castes. After this marriage, the girl's family started threatening the groom and his family and finally, on November 16, they kidnapped the groom's father.

Police conducted a raid and recovered the kidnapped elderly person

According to the police, 60-year-old Chanuram Kumhar was kidnapped by the bride's relatives on Saturday. They aimed to find out the whereabouts of the bride and groom, as, after the wedding, the bride and groom had fled from their home and were living in a safe place. The bride's family had also threatened to kill them. As soon as the police got information about this incident, they took immediate action and raided the kidnappers' hideout on November 19. The police rescued the groom's father and detained a suspect. The full disclosure in this case could have been made yesterday.

Rajasthan High Court has given instructions to provide security to the couple

Earlier, both the bride and groom had approached the Rajasthan High Court, where they had sought protection, citing the threat to their lives. The court ordered the police to ensure their safety. After this, both were produced before senior police officers, where they expressed their desire to live together. The police sent them to a safe place.

Police are investigating the matter.

Police officials said that according to the law, any person has the right to marry as per his/her wish, but such incidents prove that casteism is still deeply rooted in society. Police have started investigating the case and strict action is being taken against the accused.
