A man in Kerala's Ernakulam booked a room online in an OYO hotel. But as soon as he reached the hotel, something happened to him that he might have never imagined. The hotel owner flatly refused to give the room to the man. The matter escalated so much that it reached the court. The court has ordered the hotel owner to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand.

According to a TOI report, the court imposed a fine on the hotel owner and said- Despite booking the room in advance through an online booking application, the hotel owner did not provide the room to the customer and his family. Due to this, the hotel owner will have to bear the brunt of the trouble they have faced. Therefore, the hotel owner will pay one lakh rupees to the customer and also pay 10 thousand rupees as court expenses.

Customer Arun Das had said in his complaint- I went to the hotel with my children and elderly parents at night. But despite the booking, the hotel owner did not give us any room. We had a lot of trouble finding another hotel that night. With great difficulty, we found a hotel where we stayed that night.

Based on the complaint filed by Arun Das, the court has directed the hotel owner to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh and court expenses of Rs 10,000 within 30 days. The complainant said, that when we reached the hotel around 10 pm, the hotel owner refused to give us rooms. He also demanded an additional charge of Rs 2,500 per room. Along with this, we had to travel overnight with our children and elderly parents and had to find another hotel.

Consumer Commission Chairman DB Binu and members V Ramachandran and TN Srividya said, 'The hotel owner has betrayed the complainant's family. Due to this, the family has suffered not only financial loss but also mental agony. Therefore, this fine has been imposed on the hotel owner.'
