UP: Meerut's extortionist policemen themselves used to make false calls to the control room; this is how it was revealed.

A gang of extortionist policemen has been exposed in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. This gang of 5 policemen was posted in Dial 112. During patrolling, these policemen themselves used to give false information to the control room and then go to that place and collect the money. Not only this, after collecting the money, these people used to call the control room and get the complaint closed. This gang has been exposed in the case of one such false information. After the case came to light, SSP Meerut suspended all the policemen involved in the gang.

According to SSP Vipin Tada, these five policemen used to patrol in two shifts in the PRB of Parikshitgarh police station area. During duty, they themselves used to inform the control room about a crime from a passerby's phone. Since their location was found near the crime spot, they used to get the complaint. After this, they used to go to that place and extort money and then call the control room and get the complaint closed. These policemen have been identified as Yashpal Singh, Pramod Kumar, Jitendra Kumar, driver Rajan, and home guard Sushil Kumar deployed in both shifts on PRV UP32DG 6343.

According to the police, the accused policemen called the control room from a passerby's phone and said that illegal liquor was being sold. Since the location of these policemen was found around the incident spot, the event was also assigned to them after this complaint. After a while, these policemen called the control room from the spot and got the complaint closed. They said that the information was fake. After this, when the control room called that number for feedback, the phone was found switched off.

Similarly, in another case, when a feedback call came from the control room, the person who picked up the phone said that it was not he who made the call but the policemen who took his phone had made it themselves. This aroused suspicion and the SSP Meerut was informed from the control room. On this information, the SSP got the matter investigated and the whole matter was revealed. After this, the police suspended them and registered a case.

According to SSP Vipin Tada, along with suspending the policemen involved in the gang, a fraud report has been filed against them in the Civil Lines police station. Similarly, a report against the home guards involved in the gang has been sent to the commandant for necessary action. He said that legal and legislative action is being taken against all of them.
