Police issued a press note stating- The arrested Riya was associated with many production houses and had worked in many porn or C-grade films. Riya is also known by the names Aarohi and Banna Sheikh in the porn industry. Sub-Inspector Sangram Malkar said the investigation revealed that Riya's mother Anjali is from Bangladesh. She was living illegally in India with her two daughters Riya-Ritu and son.

Riya's mother used to claim herself to be from West Bengal. She married Arvind Barde, a resident of Amravati. Later, she got a passport of an Indian citizen made for herself and the children by making fake birth certificates and other fake documents so that she could prove her Indian identity. The police found that both Riya's mother and father are currently living in Qatar.

Police said- Rhea was earlier arrested by Mumbai Police under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in a case related to prostitution. The whole matter came to light when Rhea's friend Prashant Mishra came to know that she was originally from Bangladesh and was living illegally in the country. He complained about her to the police, after which the police checked her documents and exposed the whole incident.
