Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone today. PM Modi has posted on X that he discussed further strengthening the strategic partnership with Putin. Also, there was a discussion between the two about the Russia-Ukraine war and the recent visit of the PM to Ukraine. PM Modi has reiterated India's commitment to support an early, permanent, and peaceful solution to the war to Putin.

According to the information given by the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi mentioned his visit to Russia in a conversation with Putin. Recalling the meeting of the two leaders, he emphasized strengthening bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi also talked to Putin about the Russia-Ukraine war, he emphasized dialogue and diplomacy for a permanent solution to the conflict. The PM appealed to adopt dialogue and diplomatic path to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war.

Earlier on Monday night, Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden also had a telephone conversation. During this, many global issues including the Russia-Ukraine war, and Bangladesh were discussed between the two leaders. Let us tell you that recently Prime Minister Modi has returned from a Ukraine tour, such situation, within a week, his conversation with first Zelensky, then Biden, and now Putin has raised questions about whether India is going to mediate in the Russia-Ukraine war.

After Prime Minister Modi visited Ukraine, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that India should organize the next peace talks to end the war. Zelensky had said that he has also talked to Prime Minister Modi about this. Zelensky said that India has always favored a peaceful solution, so he hopes that India can help him in this.

Prime Minister Modi was on a visit to Ukraine on 23 August, he reached the Ukrainian capital Kyiv by train from Poland. The PM along with President Zelensky paid tribute to the children killed in the war. In a bilateral meeting with the President of Ukraine, PM Modi said that India is in favor of peace and if anyone can help in ending the Russia-Ukraine war, he will do so.
