According to the president of the association, the protesters forcibly dragged Saifullah Islam into the hall and killed him. According to the local Bengali newspaper Prothom Alo, people present at the spot said that the protesters beat up the lawyer badly before killing him.

During this, the court rejected his bail and sent Chinmay Prabhu to jail. He has been accused in the treason case. Angry people protested against his arrest and violence broke out during that time.

Chinmay Prabhu has appealed to his supporters from the jail to maintain peace.
