An Indian laborer in Singapore has been fined 400 Singapore dollars. He was accused of defecating in a public place while being drunk. The court has found him guilty of defecating at the entrance of The Shoppes Mall in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. While pronouncing the verdict, the judge warned him not to repeat such an incident and said that if he was found doing it again, a more severe fine would be imposed.
This incident dates back to October 30 last year, when a video went viral on Facebook, which received more than 1500 likes in about two days. More than 1700 comments were made on that post and it was shared 4,700 times. This post made a lot of headlines in Singapore. In this post, a laborer was seen defecating at the gate of a mall in Singapore. Later this person was identified as Ramu Chinnarasa, who was an Indian and works as a construction worker in Singapore.
According to a report, construction worker Ramu Chinnarasa has pleaded guilty under Environmental Public Health (Public Cleanliness) Regulations. According to the report, on October 30, 2023, Ramu drank three bottles of alcohol and gambled at the Marina Bay Sands Casino. At around five in the morning, when he came out of the casino, he wanted to go to the toilet, but due to being extremely drunk, he could not go to the toilet and he defecated at the entrance of the mall.
He then fell asleep on a stone bench outside Marina Bay Sands. Then at around 11 am, he returned to his dormitory in Kranji. Speaking on the incident, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Adel Tai said that Ramu's video was seen by a security officer the same day and a report was lodged with the police.
