Donald Trump Next President of America: Biden congratulated the newly elected President Trump and invited him to the White House. Now what will happen in America before Trump's swearing-in? Let us tell you how the transfer of power will take place in America.
United States presidential transition: America has got a new president in the form of Donald Trump. But technically the elected president will not be able to take office until January 20. Actually this is a transition period of 11 weeks i.e. 77 days. In which it is decided who will have what role in the new government. Let us tell you why this transition period is necessary.
- The election of the President of America takes place on the first Tuesday of November. According to the American Constitution, the new President takes oath of office on 20 January. On this day, the current President hands over power to the new President. This is called Inauguration Day. For the first time, oath was taken on 20 January in the year 1937, since then this practice has been going on.
- Presidential Transition (United States Presidential Transition) is the process of transfer of power of the US President under which the previous President hands over all the important information and handover to the newly elected President i.e. President Elect. So that the President Elect and his new team can start their work without any problem on reaching the White House. The responsibility of this entire process lies with the General Service Administration (GSA).
- During this time, along with managing the busy schedule of the President-elect, his briefings and appointment of staff also take place. Once the transfer of power officially begins, the transition team of the President-elect, which was prepared during the campaign, starts working. The most important among these is the daily security briefing in which the President-elect is given information related to national security.
- After the results are out, the electors of all the states will form the Electoral College which will elect the leader of the House (President). On 11 November, the process of certifying the electors in the states i.e. 'Certificate of Assurance' will begin. If there is a complaint of rigging in the counting of votes in any state, then this process may take some time if a situation of re-counting arises. The last date to complete this process is 11 December.
- The responsibility of the security of the new President is handled by the FBI and other agencies. Although the security cover is increased as soon as the results are out, it still takes some time for the complete security arrangements to be made.
- Like India, political appointments are also made in America. During this entire process, the elected President has to fill about four thousand political posts. The new government appoints its own people to these posts, in such a situation, the people appointed by the old government resign on their own in most of the cases. A lot of work of all the committees of the Parliament is decided during this transition period.
- New postings in American embassies and consulates spread across the world are also done as per the instructions of the newly elected President. The work of appointments in the White House, the official residence of the President, is also done during this period. Things related to the chiefs of intelligence agencies are also decided during this period.
- In America, the President is sworn in first. Then comes the turn of his deputy, i.e. the Vice President. The President is sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. After the oath, the new President addresses the nation. After this, there will be a signing ceremony in the President's room.
- The newly elected President and his wife are also given a tour of the White House so that they can give instructions regarding the decoration of the White House.
- The expenses incurred during the transfer process are paid for by both public and private funds. $7 million is released from federal funding.
