More than 100 foreign nationals were hanged in Saudi Arabia. According to reports in the country, 21 foreign nationals were hanged from Pakistan, 20 from Yemen, 14 from Syria, 10 from Nigeria, 9 from Egypt, 8 from Jordan, 7 from Ethiopia, and 1 each from India, Sudan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Eritrea and the Philippines.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia hanged more than 100 foreign citizens this year. Recently Saudi hanged a Yemeni citizen convicted of drug smuggling.

With the hanging of the Yemeni citizen, Saudi Arabia has already awarded death sentence to 101 foreign nationals in the year 2024. Whereas, 34 foreign nationals were hanged in the year 2023 and 2022, but in 2024 this figure crossed 100.

All records broken, largest number of executions

Taha al-Hajji, legal director of the Berlin-based European-Saudi Organization for Human Rights (ESOHR), said this is the largest number of executions of foreign nationals in a year in Saudi Arabia. Before this, Saudi Arabia has never executed more than 100 people in a single year.

At the same time, after Saudi Arabia hanged foreign citizens, the Human Rights Group has criticized Saudi Arabia. The group said, Saudi Arabia is using its power of execution too much. The group also said, Saudi Arabia is taking this step to soften its image and welcome international tourists and investors.

A report by Amnesty International has come out. According to the report, in the year 2023, Saudi Arabia will hang the third largest number of prisoners after China and Iran. In September this year, Saudi Arabia hanged the largest number of people in 30 years. In the year 1995, Saudi hanged 192 people, while in 2022, 196 people were hanged.

At the same time, till now Saudi Arabia has hanged 274 people in the year 2024. According to the report, Saudi Arabia has hanged 21 citizens of Pakistan, 20 of Yemen, 14 of Syria, 10 of Nigeria, 9 of Egypt, 8 of Jordan and 7 of Ethiopia, one citizen each from India, Sudan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Eritrea and Philippines.
