Netanyahu may be 'let go' before Trump returns to the White House; trapped in his trap!

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is excited by Donald Trump's victory in the US elections. He hopes that America will now support him more strongly in the war in the Middle East. On January 20 next year, Donald Trump will take the oath of office as President and enter the White House, but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu may be removed from his post before his return.

This is because Netanyahu now seems to be caught in his own trap. Actually, Netanyahu's testimony is to be recorded in a corruption case, but his legal team is repeatedly trying to postpone it. Netanyahu is trying to postpone this case till March. But his move seems to be backfiring.

Corruption case against Netanyahu

Prime Minister Netanyahu has been accused of fraud-breach of trust in two cases and bribery in the third case. He was accused almost 5 years ago, in January 2020, and the trial began in May of the same year. Netanyahu is being constantly criticized for the delay in the trial because he remained in the post of Prime Minister most of the time during the trial. While the prosecution has completed all its arguments in August this year, Netanyahu's legal team is repeatedly postponing his testimony.

Netanyahu's statement is to be recorded on December 2

In July this year, Netanyahu's legal team had requested the court to postpone the hearing till March 2025 to record his testimony, arguing on their behalf that Netanyahu is busy due to the ongoing war on many fronts. The court rejected this and fixed the date of 2 December. But before the hearing begins again, Netanyahu's lawyers filed an appeal earlier this week to postpone his testimony for two and a half months, claiming that due to the security situation the Prime Minister has not been able to prepare properly to testify in court, although the defense has opposed any delay in this matter.

Will Netanyahu be 'removed' from the post of Prime Minister?

Netanyahu signed a conflict of interest agreement in 2020, claiming that he was allowed to serve as prime minister during the indictment, but in the agreement, Netanyahu had said that he would be able to face trial while carrying out his duties as prime minister. But now he is repeatedly trying to postpone the trial citing security reasons.

According to reports, Netanyahu's troubles may increase further due to repeated requests for delay from his team. According to the information, government watchdog groups may file a petition in the High Court to pressure Netanyahu to separate himself from the post of Prime Minister.
