Bus Accident In Pak: At least 40 people, including 11 Shia pilgrims, were killed and many others were injured in two separate bus accidents in Pakistan on Sunday. Police said that the first accident in Pakistan occurred when a bus carrying 70 Shia pilgrims from Iraq overturned on the Makran coastal highway in Balochistan province and fell into a ravine. 11 people died in the accident, while 35 pilgrims were injured. This bus was coming from Iraq via Iran.
Actually, the Makran Coastal Highway is a 653-km long national highway, which stretches from Karachi in Sindh province to Gwadar in Balochistan province along the Arabian Sea coast in Pakistan. According to police sources, most of the people on the bus were residents of Lahore or Gujranwala. Police said that it seems that the driver lost control of the bus, due to which the bus first overturned and then fell into the ravine.
The bus overturned near Bujji Top
Lasbela Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Captain Naveed Alam said that the bus was carrying pilgrims from Iran to Punjab, when due to high speed the driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which the bus overturned near Bujji Top on the coastal highway. He said that 11 bodies have been taken out of the ravine, while 35 injured passengers have been taken to the hospital. He said, "Four passengers are still trapped inside the bus and efforts are being made to rescue them."
Second accident due to brake failure
Qamar Nadeem of Edhi Foundation, which runs a private ambulance service, said that the second accident occurred when a bus carrying 30 people fell into a ditch in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). 29 people died and three others were injured in this accident. The accident took place on Girari Bridge in Kahuta, about 400 km from Lahore. The driver lost control of the bus due to brake failure.
According to 'Rescue 1122', the dead include 23 men, five women and a child. Some bodies were taken out by cutting the structure of the bus. Sadhnoti Deputy Commissioner Umar Farooq said that all the people who died in this accident were residents of Sadhnoti district. Police, administration, and rescue team personnel are present at the spot.
