PM is concerned about the situation in Bangladesh, and the government is ready to make a statement in the House.

The situation in Bangladesh has been tense since the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmay Krishna Das. The Indian government has expressed concern about the safety of minorities, especially Hindus. On Thursday, an important meeting was held between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this matter, according to the information, the Foreign Minister informed the PM about the latest situation in Bangladesh.

According to sources, if the House functions smoothly, the Modi government is ready to make a statement in the House on the issue of Bangladesh. In fact, on Wednesday, the Congress had also demanded the Modi government to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh. The government has already expressed its objection to the arrest of Chinmay Das and not granting him bail before the interim government of Bangladesh.

Why is there chaos in Bangladesh?

In fact, on November 25, ISKCON leader Chinmay Krishna Das was arrested at Dhaka Airport in Bangladesh. He is accused of insulting the national flag of Bangladesh during a rally held in late October. A sedition case has been registered against him in Bangladesh. On Tuesday, when the court refused to grant him bail, a crowd of ISKCON supporters gathered outside the court. During this time, it is alleged that a government lawyer died in mob violence.

There is a demand to ban ISKCON.

Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Bangladesh High Court demanding a ban on ISKCON. In response to this petition, Yunus Sarkar has described ISKCON as a fundamentalist organization in front of the court. Many retired judges of the country including ISKCON leaders have demanded intervention from PM Modi.

There are about 65 ISKCON temples in Bangladesh, and more than 50 thousand followers. But since the coup of the Sheikh Hasina government, cases of violence against minorities, especially Hindus, have increased in the country.
