The Palestinian President attacked the 'Aladdin's lamp' which is helping Israel win.
The friendship between America and Israel is an example for the whole world. Whenever Israel has faced problems, America has stood by it like a rock. If we look at the ongoing war in Gaza, Israel has been fighting for almost a year thanks to America. Many Muslim countries including Iran have criticized this alliance many times, but this is the first time that the President of Palestine himself has shown the mirror to America from the world's biggest platform.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has strongly criticized the US for helping Israel in the war. While addressing the UNGA, Abbas has also blamed those countries that are supplying weapons to Israel for the ongoing war and destruction in Gaza. In fact, since the Hamas attack on October 7 last year, Israel has been bombing Gaza. According to the Gaza Health Department, more than 41 thousand Palestinian civilians have been killed in these attacks.
First address to the United Nations amid war
On Thursday, at the United Nations General Assembly, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held the entire world responsible for the destruction of Gaza and the death of thousands of innocent people. He condemned the US support for Israeli attacks in Gaza and appealed to the international community to stop supplying arms to Israel. Abbas said that we cannot let this madness continue, the entire world is responsible for what is happening to our people in Gaza. This was his first address to the United Nations amid the war that had been going on for about a year.
'Atrocities in Gaza with the help of America'
Mahmoud Abbas questioned the US and said that despite the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Gaza, Washington is providing diplomatic protection and weapons to Israel. He accused the US of allowing Israel to commit atrocities in Gaza by using its veto power against the Gaza ceasefire proposal. The Palestinian President said that we are saddened that the US, which is the world's largest democracy, has blocked the proposal demanding a ceasefire in the UNSC thrice. He said that the US alone stood on one side and kept saying, 'No, this war will continue.'
Washington is Israel's biggest ally and has been providing large-scale economic and military aid to Israel. According to data from the Council on Foreign Relations, since 1948, it has helped Israel with more than $300 billion, a large part of which has been given only from October 2023 till now. On Thursday, Israel said that it has received an aid package of $8.7 billion (Rs 727 billion) from the US. Out of this, about $3.5 billion (Rs 292 billion) is for purchasing weapons necessary during the war, which it has already received. The remaining $5.2 billion is for air defense systems like Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Advanced Laser System.
