RCBs' new guru: Who is Omkar Salvi?
Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) confirmed the appointment of Omkar Salvi as their new bowling coach on Monday evening. Currently the head coach of Mumbai, Salvi will join the franchise ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The 46-year-old has previously worked as an assistant coach with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Salvi's tenure as Mumbai coach will end in March 2025. RCB has posted about this on social media. 'Announcement: Omkar Salvi, the current coach of the Mumbai Ranji team, has been appointed as the Bowling Coach of RCB. In the last eight months, he has coached the teams that won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, and IPL Trophy. He will join the team ahead of IPL 2025. Till then he will complete his duties in the domestic cricket season.'
Earlier this year, RCB appointed wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor for the 2025 season. Karthik and Salvi have previously worked together for KKR and the franchise hopes that the two will work together to win the title in 2025. The work of the two will be crucial to ending RCB's title drought in 2025.

Before RCB, he worked as an assistant bowling coach for KKR. Omkar Salvi has had great success in the last 2-3 years. In the 2023-24 season, he made Mumbai the Ranji champion and then won the Irani Trophy. Omkar Salvi has played just 1 List-A match in his career. In his first and last match for Railways, Salvi took a wicket and conceded 36 runs against Madhya Pradesh.
In May 2023, Salvi was appointed the head coach of Mumbai for the senior men's team. Before this, he served as the bowling coach at Mumbai.
