What happened in Nagpur that Rahul Dravid became kind to Vaibhav Suryavanshi? Father told the inside story

Rajasthan Royals bought 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.1 crore. Rahul Dravid was happy after buying the child whose base price was Rs 30 lakh. Vaibhav's father has given inside information about why Rajasthan Royals placed such a big bid on this child.

New Delhi: A big record has been made in the IPL 2025 auction. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old player from Bihar, has been bought by Rajasthan Royals. This franchise, which gives a platform to young players, has added the youngest player in the history of the tournament. This left-handed batsman has been bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore. There was competition among the franchises for this player with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. However, in the end, the bet was in the name of Rajasthan.

Suryavanshi, who hails from Samastipur in Bihar, recently grabbed everyone's attention by becoming the youngest batsman to score an international century. He achieved the feat by scoring 104 runs off 62 balls in the Youth Test played for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19 in Chennai. His century scored off just 58 balls, was the fastest by an Indian in Youth Tests and the second fastest globally. Earlier this year, Suryavanshi made headlines when he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar at just 12 years of age, becoming the youngest player in India's premier first-class tournament.

Everyone has the same question in their mind about Vaibhav what is it about him that Rahul Dravid was completely after him? This was a bit surprising for everyone. When Vaibhav's father was asked about this, he told the inside story. He said that Rajasthan Royals had called him to Nagpur for trials. Batting coach Vikram Rathore gave him a match situation in which the son hit 3 sixes and scored 17 runs in one over. In the trial, he hit a total of 8 sixes and 4 fours. At present, he only wants to play cricket. Some time ago he liked Doraemon.

He further said- He is not just our son now, he is the son of the entire Bihar. He started at the age of 8 and made it to the Under-16 district team. I took him to Samastipur, where he got cricket coaching. He also said that he had even sold his land to make his son a cricketer. Let us tell you that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently in Dubai and is playing in the Under-19 Asia Cup. India also has a match with Pakistan on November 30 at the ICC Academy Ground.

It is noteworthy that when Rajasthan Royals bought Vaibhav in the auction, the happiness on the face of former India coach and former captain Rahul Dravid was worth seeing. It seemed that even after buying him for Rs 1.1 crore, he was cheap for the team. Well, now it remains to be seen whether Vaibhav will make his debut in IPL 2025 or Rahul Dravid will make his debut in 2026 after working on him.
