Food Tips : Easy way to make paneer, must try at home

Paneer is a soft and creamy Indian cheese made by curdling milk. It is a versatile ingredient that can be used in many Indian dishes, such as paneer tikka, matar paneer, palak paneer, and more. Here's an easy way to make paneer at home:

Ingredients:

  • Full-fat milk - 1 liter
  • Lemon juice or vinegar - 2-3 tablespoons
  • Muslin cloth or cheesecloth

Instructions:

  1. Pour the milk into a heavy-bottomed pan and place it over medium heat.
  2. Stir the milk occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  3. Once the milk comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and add lemon juice or vinegar to it.
  4. Keep stirring the milk until it curdles and the whey separates from the curd. This may take 2-3 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the milk sit for a minute to allow the curd to settle at the bottom.
  6. Place a muslin cloth or cheesecloth over a strainer and pour the curdled milk through it.
  7. Rinse the paneer under cold water to remove any traces of lemon juice or vinegar.
  8. Gather the edges of the cloth and squeeze out the excess water from the paneer.
  9. Place a heavy object on top of the paneer to press it and remove any remaining water.
  10. Keep the paneer under the weight for 30 minutes to an hour.
  11. Once the paneer has set, remove it from the cloth and cut it into cubes or slices.
  12. Your homemade paneer is now ready to be used in any dish of your choice.

Note: You can use the leftover whey from the paneer-making process to knead dough for rotis or use it in soups and stews.
