Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has allotted the cadre to the successful candidates in 2022. This list includes candidates who have received their home state cadre as well as candidates who have been allotted cadre in states other than their home state. UPSC conducts its examinations every year and it attracts a large number of candidates. However, only a few people are able to achieve success. Let us see how UPSC allots cadre to successful candidates, what the process involves, and how the home cadre is determined.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is an institution that continues to work with a well-established system. UPSC follows its prescribed rules and regulations. That is why the Commission follows a strict annual calendar to conduct the examination and declare the result. The process of cadre allocation is based on things like vacancy, rules, merit, choice, etc.

How to get home cadre?

For example, if a candidate from one state becomes an IAS officer but there are no vacancies in that state, they will not get their home cadre. Instead, they will be deployed in other states where vacancies exist. UPSC also ensures that officers serve in states other than their home cadre. This is essential as it allows them to gain experience and insight into different parts of the country. When an officer serves in the Government of India his experience is valuable. The practice of allotting home cadres is a thoughtful approach to provide candidates with an understanding of the diverse regions of India.

What is the process of cadre allotment?

According to the Government of India, the Commission allocates cadres considering the ratio of two: one in the home state. Meaning, that in normal circumstances, if two officers from another state are deployed in a state, then one can be from the same state. The Commission also asks the candidate about his choices. If the rank is good, then the home cadre is available as per choice, but it is not necessary that this happens every time. This will be decided on vacancy. For example, if there is no vacancy in the topper's state, he/she cannot be posted there despite wanting to do so.

What is the role of merit in cadre?

This issue of the home cadre also depends on the vacancy of that state and the marks or merit obtained by the candidates. The state sends its requirement to the Government of India and the Center sends its requirement of officers accordingly to the Union Public Service Commission.

Only then does the vacancy come. In such a situation, largely no one has any control over home cadre allocation. Yes, later if a young man or woman marries in his own cadre then he gets the facility to change the cadre. In special circumstances, officers have been deployed on deputation in their home state. In that, the consent of both the state governments is necessary.
