Why Is Dental Health Important: Dental health is not just limited to problems like bad teeth and bad breath. Rather, it affects the entire health. In such a situation, to promote dental health awareness, the Maharashtra government has announced to make its treatment free.

Maharashtra's State Public Health Minister Tanaji Sawant on Monday announced the Dental Treatment Health Scheme. According to this, treatment of dental problems will now be covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. 

He made this announcement while responding to a question by MLA Satyajit Tambe. This expansion will broaden the scope of two schemes that provide free comprehensive medical treatment in government-recognized hospitals.

Facility will be available in more than a thousand hospitals

Currently, 1,000 private and government hospitals are recognised under these schemes. With the latest decision, 900 more hospitals will be included. The expansion is expected to be completed by July 31, Sawant said.

An application will be created to prevent fraud

He said the state government is also working on developing an anti-fraud application to prevent submission of fake bills by hospitals.

Increasing cases of dental problems in India

According to a study, about 64.2% people in India are facing dental related problems. This includes 26.2 percent of the male and 73.5 percent of the female population.
