* What is the story behind Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple:

According to Shiva Purana, a demon named Tadkasur had pleased Lord Shiva with his penance and in return, Lord Shiva had given him the desired boon. The boon was that no one other than Shiva's son could kill the demon and the age of the son should also be only 6 days. Let us tell you that after getting the boon, Tadkasur started harassing and killing people everywhere, and seeing all this, the gods and sages prayed to Lord Shiva to kill him. After listening to his prayer, 6-day-old Kartikeya was born in the White Mountain pond. Karthikeya killed the demon but after getting information about the devotee, Lord Shiva felt very sad.

When Kartikeya realized this, Lord Vishnu gave him a chance to atone and Lord Vishnu suggested him to establish Shivalinga at the same place where he had killed the demon. In this way, this temple later came to be known as Stambheshwar Temple.
