Why Mukesh Ambani's 15 thousand crore house is called Antilia, know here!

India's richest man Mukesh Ambani owns Antilia, the world's most expensive private residential property. The 27-story building is home to the Ambani family which includes Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Anant Ambani, Akash Ambani, Shloka Ambani, and Prithvi Ambani. The Ambani family moved into Antilia in 2012 and the house is currently believed to be worth over Rs 15,000 crore. Antilia is often in news for its features, great parties, security, and many other reasons. Although there are only limited pictures of Antilia available on the internet, it is known that the stately home is 173 meters tall and covers 37,000 square meters. The high-rise building also houses multi-story car parking, 9 high-speed elevators, and exclusive suites for employees. The features of Antilia are known to the followers of the Ambani family but many are unaware of what Antilia actually means.

Antilia is the name of an island that appeared on several maps during the 15th century. This place is considered a phantom island as its existence was later denied and believed to be a mistake by the sailors. This island was also called the Isle of Seven Cities.

The name Antilia is also apt for the residential building as it draws inspiration from the sun and the lotus. In plant terms, Antillia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae and currently has only one known species, Antillia brachychaeta, which is native to Cuba.

The Ambani family home has been designed by two renowned US architecture firms Perkins & Will, based in Chicago, and Hirsch Bedner Associates, based in Los Angeles. The construction of the house started in 2006 and it took 6 years to complete the project. The building can withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8.
