27 crores is a bit too much, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka regrets buying Rishabh Pant!
In the mega auction of IPL 2025, money rained on Rishabh Pant like never seen on any player before. The team that spent money on Pant-like water was LSG, which added him to itself by spending Rs 27 crore. But, after making this most expensive bid in IPL history, the owner of the team i.e. Lucknow Super Giants, Sanjeev Goenka, seemed to regret his decision. He regretted buying Pant for a higher amount.
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka's regrets came to light when he was questioned about buying Sanjiv Goenka during the IPL 2025 mega auction? Sanjiv Goenka said clearly whatever was in his heart at that time. He admitted that Rishabh Pant got a little more than Rs 27 crore.
According to Sanjiv Goenka, Rishabh Pant was a part of LSG's plan. We had thought about buying him and had fixed an amount of up to Rs 26 crore for this. But, 27 crores were spent a little more. While accepting this regret from within, the owner of LSG also admitted that Rishabh Pant's joining is a matter of happiness for the fans of his team. Pant is a great player. He is a team man and a match winner, which we can see benefiting from.
In the mega auction of IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant had kept his base price at 2 crores. He was expected to be sold at a high price in the auction. It was also expected that he would break all the records and that is what happened. Teams like Punjab Kings, KKR, Delhi Capitals also tried to add Pant to themselves but in the end LSG won.
