England got a new head coach for ODI and T20 teams, a big decision taken before the Champions Trophy

 

The England cricket team has got a new white-ball head coach. In the recent past, the performance of the England team has not been very good in ODI and T20 cricket, due to which this decision was taken. England's Test team head coach Brendon McCullum has now been made the head coach of the white-ball team as well. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also announced this. Brendon McCullum has replaced Matthew Mott, who has been in this position since 2022.

Brendon McCullum has a big responsibility

Brendon McCullum has been associated with the England Test team since 2022. Now he has extended his contract till 2027. He will take charge of the Test as well as the ODI team from the beginning of 2025. At the same time, Marcus Trescothick will serve as interim head coach for the upcoming series against Australia and the Caribbean tour later this year.

England Cricket Team Managing Director Rob Key said, 'I am delighted that Brendan has now chosen to play both roles with England. I believe we are incredibly fortunate that a coach of his quality is ready to commit wholeheartedly to English cricket. It is particularly exciting to now be able to unite all the teams and we are ready to face all the challenges that come our way.'

England team head coach Brendon McCullum said, 'I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Test team, and I am excited to begin my role with the white-ball teams. This new challenge is something I am ready to embrace, and I am looking forward to working closely with (Jos Buttler) and the team to build on the strong foundation that already exists.'

Let us tell you, that Brendon McCullum has a lot of experience in coaching. After retirement from cricket, McCullum decided to make coaching his career. McCullum has been the head coach of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He also coached Trinbago Knight Riders to the Caribbean Premier League title.
