ICC ODI World Cup: Quinton de Kock joins the list of these greats, achieved this big achievement

South African opener Quinton de Kock (174) missed out on scoring a double century in the ICC ODI World Cup match against Bangladesh on Tuesday. He scored his third century in this World Cup.

With this he has joined the cricketers who have scored three centuries in one edition of the World Cup. He became the fifth player to achieve this feat in a single edition. Earlier in the ODI World Cup, former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh (1996), former Indian captain Saurabh Ganguly (2003), former Australian opener Matthew Hayden (2007) and David Warner (2019) had scored three centuries each.

The record for scoring the most centuries in one edition is held by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who scored the maximum number of five centuries in the last World Cup. Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara had scored four centuries in the year 2015. He has become the second batsman to score the most centuries in the World Cup against South Africa. AB de Villiers (4) is on top in this matter. South Africa won this match by 149 runs.
