IND vs AUS: The biggest partnership between Australia's last pair! 45-year-old record saved from being broken in Perth

Australia looked in a bad shape in the Perth Test due to the havoc created by the Indian bowlers. The entire team could only score 104 runs. Team India got the lead in Perth but a 45-year-old record was saved from breaking. In the Perth Test, Australia lost 9 wickets for just 79 runs and it seemed that Team India would break the 45-year-old record of getting Australia all out for the lowest score in a Test. But Australia's last pair became a hurdle in this path.

The last pair made the biggest partnership!

The last pair of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood made the biggest partnership for Australia in the first innings of the match. Both of them faced 110 balls and added 25 runs to the score board, which was the biggest partnership for any wicket in the Australian innings. Earlier, the opening pair had added 14 runs.

45 year old record saved from being broken

Australia's lowest score in a Test against India is 83 runs, which it made in 1981. When Australia lost 7 wickets for 67 runs after the first day's play in Perth, it seemed that the 45-year-old record would be broken. This hope grew further when India took 2 more wickets of Australia early in the second day's play.

By the way, India could have restricted Australia to the lowest total in a Test match against them in Perth if Pant had not dropped Hazelwood's catch. But, as soon as the catch was dropped, Hazelwood stuck with Starc at the crease like Fevicol. Eventually, this pair broke up with the dismissal of Mitchell Starc, whose wicket was taken by Harshit Rana.

Mitchell Starc faced 112 balls and scored 26 runs. This is his longest Test innings in Australia. Along with this, he was also the highest run scorer against India in the first innings of the Perth Test. After him, Alex Carey was the second top scorer with 21 runs.
