ODI World Cup: Not Gayle, this batsman holds the world record for hitting most sixes in a World Cup innings.
Although West Indies' Cris Gayle may hold the world record for hitting the most sixes in an ICC ODI World Cup, the world record for hitting the most sixes in an innings is held by former England captain Eoin Morgan.
Morgan had hit 17 sixes during his stormy innings of 148 runs against Afghanistan in the last World Cup. He played this innings on 18 June 2019 in Manchester. Earlier, the world record for hitting most sixes in an innings of the World Cup was held in the name of Chris Gayle.
Gayle played an inning of 215 runs against Zimbabwe on 24 February 2015. Gayle had hit 16 sixes in this innings. Eoin Morgan's world record of hitting most sixes in an innings can be broken in the 13th edition of the World Cup, which is going to start in India from tomorrow.
