Pakistan Cricket: These 3 players are on PCB's radar, they can become the new captain of Pakistan in place of Babar Azam

Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan's ODI and T20 team. But, after his resignation, PCB i.e. Pakistan Cricket Board is in a dilemma. The question is who should they make the captain? As an answer to this question, PCB currently has the names of 3 players. PCB is keeping an eye on the names of those 3 players because they have experience of captaincy at some level. They have also taken over the reins of the team in international cricket. The 3 players we are talking about who are contenders to become the captain in place of Babar Azam include Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Who is the next captain of Pakistan's white ball cricket?

So will PCB appoint one of these three as captain in place of Babar Azam? We cannot say with certainty but it can definitely be expected to happen. Pakistan has to face teams like Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in white ball cricket in the coming times. It also has to play the Champions Trophy in its own hosting. In such a situation, it is necessary to select a new captain before that. Let us know one by one why Shaheen, Shadab, and Rizwan can become contenders for Babar Azam.

shaheen shah afridi

Shaheen Shah Afridi has experience of captaining Pakistan. He captained Pakistan in 5 T20I matches, out of which they had to face defeat in 4. At the same time, they won 1 match. It is clear that this captaincy figure is not good but it is also true that Shaheen did not get many opportunities to captain and build a team. Because he is also the captain who has won not one but 2 PSL titles. Shaheen was suddenly removed from Pakistan's T20 captaincy, after which there was an uproar. Now that Babar has resigned on his own, PCB can give a second chance to Shaheen, whose name has also been approved by many veterans.

Like Shaheen, Shadab also has experience of captaining Pakistan. At the age of 22 years and 75 days, he took over the reins of Pakistan for the first time and earned the title of being the country's youngest captain. Shadab Khan's biodata is strong as a contender for Babar Azam because his recent form as a captain is tremendous. He is the current champion of PSL. Islamabad United won the title this year under his captaincy. And, he also led his team to the title in the recently concluded domestic ODI tournament Champions ODI Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan also has experience of captaincy in PSL. He is certainly short of time in this matter on the international pitch of white ball cricket, but a big reason for this is that he has not got that many opportunities. It will be interesting to see whether PCB can consider Rizwan's name to replace Babar Azam.
