Shahid Afridi got angry over the Champions Trophy, made these allegations on BCCI, said- ICC should show its 'power'
Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy, but BCCI has refused to send Team India there. Since this decision, there has been a dispute regarding the venue and timing of the tournament. To resolve this, ICC has taken a big step and has scheduled a meeting on Friday, November 29, i.e. today. In this meeting, the ongoing dispute between the two boards will be discussed and a solution to the problem will be found. But before this, Pakistan's legendary cricketer Shahid Afridi launched a big attack on the Indian Cricket Board.
Shahid Afridi, expressing his anger on BCCI, has alleged that the Indian board is trying to mix sports and politics together. Because of this, international cricket has reached a worrying situation. Afridi also supported the decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board against the hybrid model. He said 'I fully support PCB's stance on the hybrid model.' According to him, despite the security problem, the Pakistan cricket team visited India 5 times after the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai. Afridi requested the ICC and its board to use their power while treating the directors equally.
According to Pakistani media reports, the PCB is ready to conduct the Champions Trophy without India. According to a PTI report, it has told the ICC even before the meeting that it will not accept the hybrid model. It has also advised that some other option should be found to organize the Champions Trophy. Apart from this, it has asked for a written statement about the Indian team not getting permission to play in Pakistan. The source said, under the ICC rules, if a team says that its government is not allowing it to play in another country on any basis, then the board will have to submit its government's instructions in writing, which we have not seen yet.
These 3 ideas will be discussed in the meeting.
Three options can be considered in the ICC meeting for holding the Champions Trophy. The first option is the hybrid model, under which matches of all the teams except Team India will be played in Pakistan. In the second option, there is talk of shifting the tournament completely outside Pakistan. However, even during this time, the hosting rights will remain with PCB. The third and last option is that the entire tournament should be played in Pakistan, but India will not be a part of it.
