The second match of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka was played at Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele. In this rain-affected match, India won by 7 wickets and won the series. Team India has taken an unassailable lead of 2-0. In this match, the Indian bowlers performed well and then the batsmen led the team to victory. With this, the era of Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir has started with a win.

Strong performance by Indian bowlers

Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first, which proved to be right. Like the last match, Sri Lanka's middle order failed miserably in this match too, as a result of which despite a good start, the team could score only 161 runs in 20 overs. At one time, the Sri Lankan team had scored 130 runs at the loss of 2 wickets, but the team lost 7 wickets in scoring the last 31 runs. Ravi Bishnoi was the most successful bowler from Team India. He took 3 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs. At the same time, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya took 2-2 wickets each.

Overs cut short due to rain

While chasing the target of 162 runs, the match was stopped due to rain in the first over of Team India's innings. After which 12 overs were reduced in this match and according to Duckworth Lewis rule, Team India was given a target of 78 runs in 8 overs. Before the rain started, the Indian team had scored 6 runs in 3 balls and the match was played further.

But after the rain, India's start was not very good. Sanju Samson lost his wicket on the very first ball. But explosive innings of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya led the team to victory. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs in 15 balls. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav played an innings of 26 runs in 12 balls. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 22 runs in 9 balls and led the team to victory.
