Pakistan have taken a bold decision to drop their vice-captain Shadab Khan for the 2023 ODI World Cup league stage match against Australia. Recently, Usama Mir has been included in the playing eleven in place of Shadab Khan, who is struggling with his form.

After suffering a crushing defeat from their arch-rival India, the Green team is now preparing to face Australia. The team also had to battle illness during the six-day break. However, there have been no forced changes to the lineup due to illness or injury.

During the toss, captain Babar Azam confirmed that leaving out Shadab was a strategic decision.

"The pitch is looking really good and we will try to take early wickets first. We had some good practice sessions and some rest at times. We were not in good form in the last game but we are trying to improve here. We have made one change. Shadab Khan has made way for Usama Mir. We wanted to try a different combination."

Usama Mir recently showcased his extraordinary skills in the practice matches of the 2023 ODI World Cup and emerged as one of the standout bowlers for Pakistan. The talented leg spinner impressively took four wickets in two matches, cementing his reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the field.
