A car, bike or any other vehicle cannot run without tires. Have you ever looked closely at tires? Have you noticed those little rubber hairs on the top of the tire? Do you know why they are? Let us tell you about it in detail.

v

Gate marks or nippers
These rubber bristles are called vent spigots. These are also called sprue nubs, tire nibs, gate marks, or nippers. Vent spews are of no use after the tire is made. When you buy a tire and use it, it is of no use.

Mileage will not be affected
You can remove the vent spigot, or you can leave it in place. This neither affects your tire noise nor the mileage of your car. Now you must be thinking that when it does not work then why is it on the tire?

What is the need for vent spurge
The vent spigots are made automatically when the tire is made. Liquid rubber is injected into a molding machine to make a tire. Thereafter vent pages are provided to completely expel the air from it.

c

Effect on tire quality
This is done because if air remains inside, it will get between the rubber and the mold, affecting the quality of the tire and can cause the tire to deform. Small vents are provided to let the air out of the tire mold. But, the air coming out of these takes some rubber along with it. This causes rubber hairs to grow on the tire.
