Complaint Filed Against Hema Malini for Entering Puri Jagannath Temple Amidst Protests

Bollywood actress and BJP MP Hema Malini is facing controversy after her recent visit to Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha. A complaint has been filed against her, alleging that she should not have been allowed inside the temple due to her conversion to Islam at the time of her marriage to veteran actor Dharmendra.
Why the Complaint?
The complainant claims that:
✅ Hema Malini married Dharmendra in a Muslim ceremony, despite him already being married to Prakash Kaur.
✅ Hindu Law does not allow two marriages at the same time.
✅ After marriage, both actors allegedly changed their names, indicating a religious conversion.
✅ As per tradition, non-Hindus are not allowed inside the Puri Jagannath temple, so her entry has been called a violation of religious customs.
Hema Malini Responds with Pictures
Despite the complaint, Hema Malini seems unbothered by the controversy. She took to Instagram to share photos from her visit, where she performed at Vrindavan Mahotsav, a religious program held at the temple.
🔹 In her post, she expressed gratitude to legendary flutist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, who invited her to participate in the event.
🔹 She performed on the works of poet Salabega and Tulsidas, along with depictions of Maa Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, and Lord Jagannath.
Temple Entry Controversies in the Past
The Puri Jagannath Temple has a strict "Hindus-only" entry policy, and several well-known personalities have faced similar issues in the past. However, Hema Malini’s case is unique due to the allegations of conversion.
As the controversy unfolds, the matter is expected to gain political and religious significance. Meanwhile, Hema Malini has chosen to focus on her devotional performance, seemingly ignoring the opposition.
