Talking about her personal life, Rupa married Dhrubo Mukherjee, a mechanical engineer from West Bengal, in 1992. They have a son, Akash Mukherjee, who was born in 1997. Later, it was reported that she was in a live-in relationship with Bengali singer Dibyendu Mukherjee.
