Agnipath Scheme: A lot has been said about the Agniveer recruitment scheme in recent times. Calling it a '4-year job', the opposition is raising many questions. It is being said that what will happen to 75 percent of Agniveers after the four-year term ends because only 25 percent of the total recruitments will remain for 15 years. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had recently raised this issue. Now an important announcement has been made by the central forces. Yes, former Agniveers will get relaxation in reservation and age limit. - After serving in the army for four years, Agniveers will be given priority in paramilitary forces. Yes, they will also get 10 percent reservation. Now steps have been taken in this regard by various forces.
- There is already a rule for Agniveers that after four years of service, 25 percent of the soldiers will get reappointment in the army for 15 years. Also, on completion of the service period, a lump sum service fund of Rs 11.71 lakh will be paid. Life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh will also be received for a period of four years. The Home Ministry has already ensured 10 percent reservation in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.
- Now CRPF DG Anees Dayal Singh has informed that the Union Home Ministry has taken an important decision regarding the recruitment of former Agniveers. Accordingly, CISF is also preparing the process of recruitment of former Agniveers. There is a 5-year age relaxation for those who are Agniveers of the first batch. Apart from that, there is 10 percent reservation. They are exempted from the physical efficiency test. There is a three-year age relaxation for those who come from the second batch.
- CISF DG Neena Singh said that CISF has made all the preparations for the recruitment of former Agniveers. Under this, 10 percent posts have been reserved for Agniveers in the recruitment of constable posts.
- 10 percent quota for recruitment in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is reserved for former Agniveers. This amendment has been made in the rules of SSB. The first batch will also get 5 years age relaxation.
- BSF DG Nitin Agarwal said that they have worked hard for four years. They have gained experience. They have lived under strict discipline. They are completely suitable for BSF. We are getting ready soldiers. We will deploy them on the border after giving them local capsules. A defense ministry official said that former Agniveers will not have to give any physical test to get recruited in paramilitary forces because the army has already taken this test for them. He said that they will only need a physical fitness certificate.
- Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Manoj Yadav said that RPF is very eager to welcome Agniveer when he arrives. His arrival will give new momentum.
- Programmes like skill certificate and bridge course have also been prepared for Agniveers. Also, states like Assam, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh have announced priority in government jobs.
- Regarding the Agniveer scheme, the government had argued that in today's time the nature of war has changed widely. In such a situation, threats have arisen not only from the army but also from cyber attacks and AI. In such a situation, there was a need for a better, equipped and more prepared army, that is why steps were taken towards the Yuva Sashakt Bal (Agniveer Scheme).
- The government launched the Agneepath scheme in June 2022. It provided for the recruitment of youth in the age group of 17 to 21 years in the army for four years, out of which there is a provision to retain 25 percent for 15 more years. The government later increased the upper age limit to 23 years.
