'He killed his mother and ate her body parts one by one...', the court said- Such a cannibal son deserves a death sentence.
Seven years ago, in 2017, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, a son killed his own mother. He then cut the body into pieces and cooked and ate each body part. The district court of Kolhapur had then convicted the son and sentenced him to death. The case then reached the Bombay High Court. Here, the court pronounced its verdict in this case on Tuesday. The judge said - such a son is no less than a cannibal. His death sentence should be upheld.
A division bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Prithviraj Chavan ruled that this case is 'rarest of the rare' in which there is no possibility of reformation of the convict. Therefore, his death sentence cannot be reduced. During the court proceedings, the horrific story of the crime committed seven years ago was also narrated in the courtroom. It was told that the convicted Kuchkorvi not only killed his 63-year-old mother Yallama Rama Kuchkorvi, but he also cut the mother's corpse into pieces and cooked and ate many of her organs including brain, heart, liver, kidney, and intestines.
It was told in the court that the cannibal son Kuchkorvi was caught when he was preparing to cook the heart by removing it from the dead body of his mother. The prosecution said that when Sunil Kuchkorvi's mother refused to give him money to buy liquor, he killed his mother in a gruesome manner.
After knowing the story of the brutal murder of the mother and the horrific way of cutting the body into pieces and eating the body parts, the High Court division bench said - this clearly falls in the rarest of rare categories. The bench said that the culprit had not only killed his mother but also cooked and eaten her body parts, which falls in the category of heinous crime. The High Court said that looking at the tendencies of the criminal, it does not seem that there are any signs of reform in him.
The court also said that even if his death sentence is reduced to life imprisonment, he can still commit similar crimes. According to a report, the division bench warned in a blunt tone that if this criminal is sentenced to life imprisonment, he can commit similar crimes inside the jail. Currently, Kuchkorvi is lodged in Pune's Yerwada jail. He was produced in the court through video conferencing.
