But later it accepted Khedkar's certificate. With this, she succeeded in becoming an IAS without undergoing a government medical.
Controversy over IAS Abhishek Singh too
At the same time, UP's famous IAS Durga Shakti Nagpal's husband and UP cadre IAS Abhishek Singh also became an IAS by submitting a disability certificate in the locomotor disability category (inability to work properly with hands, legs or other organs). During the Gujarat elections in the year 2022, he was sent as an observer but the Election Commission suspended him for violating the code of conduct. After this, he resigned from service and entered the acting field. His resignation is still pending at the government level.

His dance moves and style did not seem that he was fit to become an officer from the Divyang quota. Pooja Khedkar, who became an IAS from a 'Divyang', also looks fit like a normal person. How to get disabled quota in UPSC?

The test is conducted in front of the medical board
She tells that any person can claim to be disabled while filling the UPSC form. When he reaches the interview, his disability is verified. For this, the government has set up boards in some big government hospitals of Delhi. There, candidates seeking disabled quota are called for medical test by informing them the time and date. This board consists of 3 doctors, in which one doctor is a specialist of the disease suffered by the candidate. On the basis of this test, a report is prepared and sent to UPSC.
How much disability is required to become an officer?

According to the rules, only candidates with more than 40 percent disability have the right to get the disabled quota. If his disability rate is less than this, then he does not get this quota. On the basis of this report, UPSC decides whether to give or not the disabled reservation to the said candidate. Pooja Khedkar and Abhishek Singh are accused of not being eligible to get the disabled quota, yet by making some arrangements, they managed to get it and become IAS with pride.

The hospital which issued her a disability certificate in August 2022, now its dean has made a sensational statement. Dr. Rajendra Wabale, Dean of Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, said on Tuesday, "Our hospital had issued a medical certificate to Pooja Khedkar after conducting a medical examination in August 2022. In the examination, 7 percent disability was found in her left knee, on the basis of which she was issued a disability certificate. However, the minimum standard for availing the benefits issued by the government for the disabled is 40 percent disability.
