Be it a criminal or a criminal, his hearing is done in the court and the judge pronounces the verdict. A case has come up in Bihar for which the judge himself will reach the jail for a hearing. The person whose hearing will be done in jail is not an ordinary criminal but a notorious Naxalite. This is the Naxalite who had shocked the whole country including Bihar 19 years ago. This notorious Naxalite was freed by thousands of his comrades by attacking the jail fiercely. Along with him, 341 prisoners lodged in the jail also escaped.

The name of that notorious Naxalite is Ajay Kumar, who is also known as Ajay Kanu alias Ravi ji. The Bihar government has arranged for a judge in Patna's Beur jail to hear Ajay Kanu's cases. A notification in this regard has also been issued by the state government's General Administration Department. The General Administration Department has clarified that the order of the Patna High Court, Central District, and Patna Sessions Judge Chhedi Ram will hear the pending cases against Ajay Kumar alias Ajay Kanu. Currently, Ajay Kanu is on bail.

Date 13 November 2005, time between 6:30 and 7 in the evening… Amidst the mild cold, news spread from Jehanabad district of Bihar. The news was such that everyone was stunned upon hearing it, which shook the entire administrative system. Even the state government became numb. Actually, on this day a big attack took place on the district jail of Jehanabad. More than a thousand Naxalites armed with machine guns, bombs, and modern weapons attacked the jail. The Naxalites broke the jail and freed the notorious Naxalite prisoner Ajay Kanu.

Before the jailbreak, there were 658 prisoners in this jail. After the jailbreak, when the district administration investigated, 341 prisoners were found missing from the jail. All of them had absconded. The name of the notorious Ajay Kanu was also included among these absconded prisoners. It is said that these Naxalites attacked the jail in such large numbers only to make Ajay Kanu escape from the jail. The other side of the picture was that in this incident, Ranvir Sena commander Binu alias Bade Sharma, who was already imprisoned in the jail, was killed. Also, a policeman was killed.

Senior journalist Sanjay Upadhyay says about this jailbreak incident, the Naxalite attack was such that the sound of bombs and bullets started coming from about two kilometers before the jail. Due to this panic spread in the entire area. People later came to know that the Naxalites had attacked the jail. This orgy continued for about three to four hours. Since by then night had set in, the people of this area remained in panic the whole night. As soon as it was morning, all the people of the area ran in the direction from which the sound of bombs and bullets was coming. When people reached there, they found the jail door open.

Naxalites attacked Jehanabad jail to free Ajay Kanu. Experts even say that Ajay Kanu was the mastermind behind this entire incident. Ajay Kanu has been identified as a notorious Naxalite. He remained absconding for about 12 years in a murder case in 1990. But in 2002 he was caught by the police and was sent to jail. It is said about Ajay Kanu that he became a Naxalite to avenge the murder of his father. Ajay Kanu, who escaped from jail in 2005, was arrested from Jharkhand 2 years later in 2007. In 2021, he was sent to Bhagalpur jail. Currently, Ajay Kanu is released on bail.
