Kolkata Rape Murder Case: Kolkata Police has said that the accused in the rape and murder case of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College had gone to the red light area of ​​the city on the night of the incident. Accused Sanjay Roy had gone to the Sonagachi area on the night of the crime i.e. on August 8 and had also consumed alcohol there.

In the case of brutality and murder of a junior female doctor of RJ Kar Medical College and Hospital, the police arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage. In the CCTV footage, the accused was seen entering the seminar hall and then leaving from there. The junior doctor was sleeping in the same seminar hall. Later, the body of the doctor was found from there.

CBI is investigating

In the case of cruelty to the doctor, protests were seen not only in Kolkata but all over the country. Doctors of many cities went on strike. After the order of the High Court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI. Now the CBI is uncovering the layers of this case. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also took suo motu cognizance of this case and formed a task force. The court made strong comments during the hearing.

A bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra has formed a 10-member task force for the safety of doctors in the workplace. This task force will be headed by Admiral Aarti Sareen, Director General of Medical Services for the Navy. This task force will submit its recommendations to the Supreme Court in two months.

Kolkata police action

Several senior officials of Kolkata Police have been reprimanded for the incident of a mob coming and creating a ruckus during a peaceful protest at RG Kar Medical College on the night of 14 and 15 August. Kolkata Police has suspended two Assistant Commissioner rank officers and an Inspector. It has been said that they did not take necessary steps on the night of the incident. Apart from this, departmental inquiry proceedings have also been initiated against these policemen.
