A police inspector in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has faced serious consequences after organizing an Iftar party at the Zakir Colony police post without approval from senior officials. The incident, which took place in the Lohia Nagar police station area, came to light after a video of the gathering went viral on social media.

Video Sparks Controversy

The footage showed elaborate arrangements, including pandals, chairs, and food service, within the police post premises. Several policemen were seen actively engaged in serving guests. The viral video caused an uproar in the police department, prompting immediate action from senior officials.

SSP Takes Strict Action

Upon learning of the incident, Meerut SSP Dr. Vipin Tada took a tough stance, suspending police post in-charge Shailendra Pratap. Officials suspect a misuse of government resources, as hosting such an event in a police post or station without prior permission is considered a violation of protocol and indiscipline.

Key Concerns Under Investigation

The SSP has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter, focusing on:

  • The source of funding for the Iftar party

  • Possible misuse of government money or resources

  • Whether on-duty policemen were involved in organizing the event

Meerut SSP's Statement

SSP Dr. Vipin Tada addressed the issue, stating:
"Hosting such an event within police premises without informing higher authorities is highly inappropriate. Immediate action has been taken, and further investigation will determine the next course of action. If any misuse of resources is found, strict measures will follow."

This incident has raised serious questions about discipline and protocol within the Meerut police force, with further developments expected after the official investigation.
